Welcome to the Post Pandemic Freedom Show brought to you by Bold Molders. I’m Dr. Wayne Buckhanan. Here with:
Joshua Shafran. Hey.
I know last time we talked a little bit about not your interpretive dance but about the zero factor. And I know you were you were champing at the bit to share some of those tools. And today you had a tool that was focused on the outer game, but with the intention of not letting us neglect the inner game while we’re focused on the outer game. Is that right?
Yep, so we can still stay in as a Bold Molder playing the outer game as a Bold Molder, which means that we don’t fall back into letting the circumstances of the situation our past all the stuff that that has been running our show and dictating our success and what we believe is possible for us. So that we don’t slip back into that and really back into being a collector. And all of the things that we’ve talked about in previous episodes that that stack up when you’re playing the game as a collector rather than as a Bold Molder.
So it allows you to to effectively work the outer game and the inner game simultaneously. And stay on course, as a Bold Molder playing the outer game rather than just getting lost in meditative, you know, type things where you, you, you get your head right all the time, and you’re always working on your mindset. But you don’t ever actually dare to get in the game and do anything.
So if you want to flip over and while you’re flipping over to that diagram that we were on last time showing the mastery zone. I think that unpacking that with the visual on the screen helps, too. Because we realized it’s not that the outer game is collector and the inner game is bold molder know there’s another if you’re only on the inner game, that’s what you were just describing.
Right? Yeah, if you’re doing one to the exclusion of the other —
So, heavenly minded there of no earthly good, sort of, right. There’s just the inner side without the outer is just as damaging is only the outer game. So Bold Molder looks at everything together. Yeah. And
so I mean, collector can live over here
collecting spiritual
as well as Yes, as well as living over here.
And as a matter of fact, that’s my my guess or supposition is that we’ve been living in that on both sides. As a collective, we’re gathering up the the inner game stuff, how do I get my confidence up? I mean, I don’t know about you, Wayne, but the reason why I got interested in NLP was to gain confidence to be able to shift immediately to… You know, that’s where I started getting involved in, in, although I never got certified like you have in NLP. That’s why I started doing it was because I wanted to master the inner game side of the equation. And it came to me by way of other personal development, self development stuff that I was working on. That, that that’s how I learned about it.
But I became a collector of that stuff as well. And and scared to get in the game scared to try to to implement stuff. And something else that just occurred to me that I haven’t ever said this way before when we talked about zero factor is that another way to say it is that playing not to lose zero factor. When you’re when you’re going through the motions, but you’re convinced you’ve got the conviction, you’ve got the expectation that it’s not going to work for you. That’s, that’s a zero factor. And that works again, that although that’s more on the inner game side, it still can be applied to more spiritual pursuits, as well as more material pursuits as well.
And I laughed, because that was probably my zero factor on the marketing stuff years ago, like, oh, this probably won’t work, but I’ll do the thing as written. Yeah. And like, I don’t want to throw more money in there, because it’s not working yet. And you know, all the whimpering and whining that was going on in the background like, Yeah, but it’s
no way that it’s a good thing. You didn’t throw money into it. Because what would have happened when you’re thinking like that, when you’re when your conviction is such that it’s not going to work out. All that would have happened was that you would have invested a bunch of money and had an even bigger failure and felt like, you know, even more frustrated as a result of that. So you know,
yeah, yeah. All fun stuff going. Okay, that’s super interesting. But today, we wanted to talk about a tool from the outer game side that keeps the inner game moving forward.
Yeah. So we want to enter the the mastery zone as a bold molder.
And as a bold molder. So although today we’re going to be discussing this side of the equation, we’re going to be discussing the bolt molder tools to stay on course, as a bolt motor without slipping back into the collector mode without slipping back into playing not to lose and, and having that seep back into the results that we’re doing. Because you can still take massive action, and do all sorts of things and expect mediocre results. And guess what, when you’re playing in that fashion, when you’re just going, then you’re gonna get mediocre results. The funny thing, it’s a self fulfilling prophecy. But that’s exactly what’s going to end up materializing in your experience. So just keep in mind that what we’re focusing on today is this side of the equation, we’re going to give you a tool called the WMN compass that’s going to be able to support you in that that endeavor.
And I’ve heard you use the the phrase I suspect not intentionally, but you know, primed with it of staying on course. And I love that analogy, because we know where we’re at. We know where we want to be. And we think it’s that nice straight line down the middle. Right? We’ll just do 11111 And get there.
Yeah, I mean, that’s the fantasy, right? We’re down here. And we want to be up here. So it’s a straight line, and boom, we’re there. So give me the tell me the stuff that I got to do. What’s the game plan? What’s the material, what’s the secret hacks, whatever it is, just so that I can do this. And I want to do it in the fastest way possible with the least amount of headaches. And it sounds good. But reality is that success doesn’t work that way. Now, if you’ve traveled this road before, and you’ve had this result and where you want to be is where you’ve been before, then that’s a different story than it does become more of a straight line. And guess what though, you’ve got the confidence, you’ve got the know how you’ve got the the fallback to know that you’ve been there before, what we’re talking about is when you’re down here, today, and where you want to be is up here is where you’ve never been before. For you, it’s an unprecedented bigger future, it’s an unprecedented result that you’ve never created before. You’ve never traveled this road from here today, to where you want to be up here. Right? Well, then that’s going to be a zigzag line, it’s never going to be a straight line success is a process the results that you’re looking to create that you’ve not yet not created before ever. It’s a process, it’s not a destination. So you need to be okay with that and keep that in mind. Connected with that is that it’s never a straight line, which means that you’re always going to be off course, you’re always going to be tic tac and it’s going to be a different journey. And although the fantasy is that we’re going to go there 123 Like you said, right down the middle and homerun right out of the gates. If you’re taking yourself on if you’re going for those big bold molder goals, your BMG’s, that you’ve never gone for before that that scary that you’re uncertain whether you can actually hit them or not, then I promise you, it is definitely going to be a zigzag line, and you’re going to be off course and you’re going to make mistakes, you’re going to get results that aren’t going to get you what you want to get to. And that’s great news. Because it means that you’re really going for things that you that you’re not selling out on yourself that you truly are overcoming those blind spots, and that you’re really going for some cool stuff that you that you’ve yet to experience before
I know you talk about tic-tacking. And that’s a sailing idea. I’ve never been on a sailboat, but I know that with canoes and kayaks I’m never actually going where I want to go in the specifics. Like my bow is not always pointed in the right direction. It’s rarely pointed. And it’s usually because I’m overcorrecting one way or another. But every little step accumulates in generally the right direction.
Yeah, as long as you are taking inventory of where you are in relationship to where it is that you want to get to. And you’re making the course corrections along the way. The problem that we get into is that we don’t notice that we’re doing all these tic-tacks and generally speaking, what we’ve been doing is this is we’ve been trying a lot of things and we’ve been doing this and we’ve been doing this I’m doing this and we’re doing this and try this, try this. Try this, this new technique, this new technique. We’re doing this, we’re doing this and we’re doing a lot of work. We’re working really, really hard. We’re burning out in fact, because we’re working so hard and It’s really frustrating because we’re not getting the results that we think we should be getting. Because we should be over here in our mind, right? We think we should be doing all of that, when in fact, the tick tacking is that we’re not noticing what’s happening in relationship to where we are where we want to get to, we’re not taking an inventory of where did that get us each time. And so we’re taking a lot of action, we’re doing a lot of things, we’re trying to fix a lot of things, we’re trying to change a lot of things, and we’re using force to make it happen. We’re using motivation, we’re using that sheer grit and determination to get us there. And at the same time, it’s ending up, that we’re working even harder, we’re burning ourselves out. And that’s what we were talking about in some previous episodes. All About That is the burnout happens. So really, there’s two things that matter in this when you’re tick tacking is making sure that you well know that success is a process, not a not a destination, which and knowing that you’re going to be off task, and not beating yourself up for it. So the the the course correction down here, and being off course, is not good or bad, right or wrong. It just is. So the questions to be asking yourself is did it move me closer to where I want to get to or further away than what I want to get to? And when I noticed that when I take the regular inventory? Did it move? Did these actions bring me closer or further away, not getting attached to it? Well, in relationship to what in relationship to me zoom out again, in relationship to where I am in relationship to where it is that I say I want to go up here. So if I take a move, did it bring me closer to where I want to be? or further away than where I want to be? Well, in this case. Now, today is up here. So in this case, it’s a little bit closer. Am I there yet? No. So now I make another move. But let’s say, Oh, I made another move. And it brought me out here. Oh my god, bad. Oh, no, it brought me a little bit further away. Now I’m further away than where I want to be. And let’s say now the next move I do is down here in light of that now, okay? Now I can do make a move, okay, great, then maybe it’s this, then maybe it’s this, then maybe it’s over here, then maybe over there, then.
Boom, boom. And now. I’m tic tacking. And as I start to get used to this, what was wild swings that were really all over there. But if you’ll start to take this, it starts to hone in as you tic tac your way there. So that’s what the wn compass stands for is what’s working, what’s missing what’s next. So if you’ll use the wn compass, that’s how you know that you’re on course to true north. If true north is up here where you want to be, and we call that north on your compass, then you know where you are in relationship to where it is that you’re going to. So you’ve set your goal as true north. And what’s now happening is now you look at Alright, what’s working, okay? And that’s number one, then what’s missing is number two, right? And what’s next is number three. So I’ve now made this as a nice, neat, little pile. But it doesn’t get neat until you start getting momentum. But you still have the what’s working, what’s missing what’s next as your guideposts as your compass. So as you’re doing these, these swings, in the beginning, you’re going to be tempted and you’re because you’re you’ve got momentum working that you’ve been doing this you got to overcome that type of zigzag, right that that type of tic tac. Now what you’re going to do is you’re just going to use the w min compass. So when you make a move, you’re going to pause and take an inventory and hourly is too quickly to take that inventory. Daily is too quickly to take that inventory I find the ideal time length to take an inventory is one week time to take this inventory the use of your WMN compass one week at a time, not daily, not hourly, not monthly because monthly is too long, then you can get too far off course before you do any course correction but one week for me, tends to be the ideal but you play with it. But I think anything less is not going to you’re not going to get enough the feedback that you need. So when you make a move, then you say alright, always start with what’s working Regardless, now you’re taking an inventory of where you are in relationship to where you want to be up here. So where you are is here, and where you want to be as up here. And so you made a move. And what’s working, what’s working is that you’re in motion, what’s working is that you’ve gotten some clarity, what’s working is that you’ve tapped into your flywheel. And now you’ve got some courage and confidence working with you. What’s working is that you’re now taking this inventory, what’s working is that you’re using these insights to apply into the web encompass, and you’re doing it on a regular basis, and you’re not beating yourself up. And all of these things are working. And the tendency is to get stuck in what’s broken, what’s not working. And all the things that are that, you know, especially as high achievers, we’re like, oh, things are, you know, this sucks. And we’re not where we want to be. And we still we beat ourselves up. And we want to get there, we want to go even further, deeper, faster. And it’s never enough to achieve the things that we’ve achieved is never enough, fast enough, good enough, big enough and all of those things. And in fact, that’s what’s keeping us stuck is that we’re now always focused in on the obstacles, we’re always focused in on all of the problems we’re always focused in. I’m not saying that we don’t account for them. But what I am saying is that instead of making the list of what’s missing, and all the obstacles and all the things that are next, and all the things that we want to check off our list to do, instead of making that list insanely long, that we can’t possibly achieve in any one week or not, we limit that to a maximum of three, maybe as much as five, but preferably no more than three things that are missing that we’re going to focus in on. And what are we doing? Well, we’re focusing in on what’s missing in terms of what are the next things that are going to move us forward, and that we think are going to bring us closer to where it is that we want to be up here on that goal. So then we’re going to take a move, and we’re going to do the same thing again, and we’re gonna take an inventory of what’s working. And again, we’re going to make a long list of all the things that are working, and we’re going to make sure for two reasons. One, we want to prime our pump with positive things, because there always are things that are positive, it’s never broken, it’s never all shit. It’s there’s elements that are that are good. And then there’s some things that we can tweak and improve. But the tendency is to say, everything that sucks. Well, when we do that, then we get stuck in that negative spiral. And now we’re going back to the collector mentality, as opposed to the boat molder mentality, that’s number one. Number two is, there’s always things that are working. And if we don’t take inventory of the things that are working, that are serving us that are bringing us closer, then we’re going to repeat the same things, we’re going to stop doing them. And now we’re going to take a step backwards, and we’re going to find out that we’re, we’re now there, and then we’re going to get back in our crap again, and we’re gonna go, we’re gonna start doing this again. And we’re gonna get stuck there, instead of taking an inventory moving forward. So make that list of what’s working extremely long. And in the beginning, forced yourself to make like two pages worth of, of really, stuff that’s working, you won’t have to do it for long, because you’ll start to tune into that stuff. And then you’ll start to gain momentum and confidence. Then out of that, you say, alright, what’s missing in relationship to where it is that I want to get to not in relationship to all the mental energy that I’ve been expending over here not in relationship to, oh, you know, life sucks, or I suck or whatever. There’s no room for personal definition in here and having it mean anything about you personally, it’s did it bring me closer to where I wanted to be? or further away from where I wanted to be? That’s it, period. And so something that’s missing, that will bring me a step closer? I’m not trying to leapfrog all the way over here in one fell swoop, we’re done with that. We’re just going to take that that next bite sized plank, what’s missing? And then you’re never lost on in terms of what’s next. Because really, what’s missing is executing what’s next is executing what was missing. And seeing where am I now in relationship to where it is that I want to be, you know, where am I now in relationship to where I want to be. And now I’m I’m tick tacking in Oh, my goodness, now I pulled out of the rigmarole. And now I’m down here. Now, maybe in the beginning, I spend a lot of time and doesn’t feel like I’m making progress. But if you take this inventory on a regular basis, you are making progress and you will start to hone in on it. And this is what we’re saying. Like we’re start to get these fluctuations and maybe you take a step back and maybe over here, but eventually it does start to there and now you’re tick tacking your way to success. You’re purposefully creating the gap, which is this final piece down here. On the checkoff, right, you’re consciously creating that gap on a weekly basis, and you’re taking inventory of what’s working in relationship to where I am right now. And where it is that I say I want to go. It’s not where I was yesterday, it’s not what happened. It’s not It’s where I am right now, moving forward in relationship to where it is that I say I want to get to, and then you bridge that gap, how do you bridge that gap in relationship to what is already working. So I remember to repeat the stuff that’s working. And I also now am going to attempt to look at things in terms of what’s missing, so that I can take the what’s next step in, in relationship to there. And that way, you’re guaranteed to tic tac your way to success now part of what’s working, what’s missing, and what’s next may be to adjust where you’re going. Because now you see new possibilities, you see a new goal, you see something that’s different, and it might be a little bit different. And that’s okay, because now you see new possibilities, and it’s out of vision, not out of circumstances. Because what you’ll notice is this is the vision for where it is that you say you want to go. And this is where you are everything in between are circumstances. In between. It’s the circumstances that are in between where you are right now, and where it is that you say you want to get to. So as long as you’re operating from vision, you will tic-tac your way and sometimes where you want to be changes. And that’s okay, provided that it changes from vision, not because it’s something that you Well, I decided, well, you know what, this is really where I decided I wanted to be? Yeah, I decided here. And now I’m chunking back. And really now I’ve talked myself in that this was not my goal. This was my goal. No, that’s called selling out on yourself and sacrificing the the story at the same time. So Wayne, helped pull this all together for us, would you?
Yeah. So we you presented this big tactic of the WMN compass — what’s working, what’s missing, what’s next — we got the key points of what’s going on. And that we’re never really going to be on course, during all this. That’s part of the challenge. And one piece was noticing it and the other was staying neutral about it, which starts to sound an awful lot like a recurring theme.
Oh, you mean making the unconscious conscious?
Yeah. And using the RnD to do that. And you know, all the things that keep showing up over and over again, as we go down this path, right? Thinking about what can people do with this right now? I heard, do your WMN compass for the week. And I really the piece that jumped out at me when you were talking about not getting caught up in it was this idea. I like your analogy of put on your white lab coat and get out your checklist, your clipboard, and just do this as if it was (and this is me projecting) someone else. Like, oh, if I were reporting on someone else who was doing the things that I just did this last week, what would I say was working? Because then you’re neutral about it is not your thing that you’re recording it, you’re just like, oh, look, let’s look at that thing over there. So put a little distance in there, do your math, what’s working. And what’s missing is only a few things. And what’s next is one, maybe two things because you don’t have a lot of space to work on something next over this coming week.
Well, and you want to set yourself up to win and feel like a success so that you actually execute it and you can get the positive feedback or or feedback period that you need. You calibrate the compass as to where your true north is. And that is out of your vision of where it is that you say you want to go, then the Compass has no judgment on how you got here, what your past was, what the path was that you took, all it’s looking at is okay, you told me what TrueNorth is and where it is that you want to get to. Where are you now in relationship to where it is that you want to get to. And it’s giving you that feedback to be able to then then adjust as you need B. The other thing that I want to point out is that the reason why we ask the question and terms of what’s missing and not what’s not working. Notice the Frank phraseology is really important. What’s missing is very different than in what’s working in the tendency then is well what’s not working? No, you don’t want to look into what’s not working because that’s focuses you in on the obstacle. When you ask what’s missing. It already programmed you for self to look for things that will help you have the best shot of overcoming and moving you forward automatically. That’s why I said that it automatically moves you into the final part of the compass, which is what’s next, which is, if you do the the first two pieces properly, it’s no big whoop. Where we have a tendency, you know, when we get stuck in, I need more clarity, I need to know more, I need to know what to do tell me what to do. That goes away because it becomes so clear. As soon as you’re missing something, then you’re like, alright, well, I just want to I don’t want to be missing it anymore. I want I want to have it. So what can I do? Or what do I think I can do to try to to overcome the missing pieces? Great. Now, will it work didn’t work? Did it doesn’t matter? Is it did it bring me closer to where it is that I want to go or further away. And again, it’s just using that compass that’s not judging you. That’s not telling you anything about yourself or defining you in any way, shape, or form. And it’s not looking to where you were, it’s looking at where you are in relationship to where you want to go in oh, let’s say part of what’s missing is that I miscalculated. TrueNorth. So I gotta make a little adjustment. Oh, and now I adjust my vision, I adjust my goals. Oh, cool. Now, that becomes a an empowering thing. It just gave me goosebumps thinking about it. Because now it’s serving me, it’s moving me closer to where it is that I want to get to. And I’m in charge of it. And guess what I set myself up to win every single time. Because now next week, when I’m looking at what’s working, I get to be proud of the fact that I adjusted. Instead of oh, I didn’t sell out on myself. My my vision, I see more I see new possibilities. And I know that now it needs to be fine tuned to be something different, tweaked it. And now I get to feel good about that’s a piece of what’s working. The fact that I’m off course, or further away, actually now serves me and it’s part of the what’s working piece.
I like it. So I know we have another tool coming up in the series.
Yeah!
…what are we…
We’re going to start diving into the result seesaw, which is about moving into the mastery zone and overcoming the zero factor from the inner game side and keeping you on course, the same way that you can keep on course, with the outer game stuff and playing as a bold molder and entering the mastery zone as a bold molder from both sides. This is going to help keep you on course in terms of a tool, like the WMN compass, but from the other side. And it’s coming up in the next few episodes, actually, we’re going to take a deep dive into it. But we’re also not going to “firehose” you. So we’re going to make sure that we break it down into a few segments to help make it bite sized chunks for you to be able to really get it once you get it. It’s no big deal. It’s you’re going to be like oh, wow, cool. And you’ll be able to use both the WMN compass and the Results Seesaw as a tool, and you’ll be able to immediately visualize it and execute and it won’t be something that you have to even think about. It’ll be a resource that you’ll immediately be able to reflect back on mentally. And it will keep you on course, I think you’ll find it’s really powerful to keep the shifts happening and to allow you to make faster and faster progress and increase your momentum at the same time.
Sounds good. Anything else between now and then?
Well, you know, there’s always the playbook if they don’t already have that. That’ll help them all of this really is encompassed in there. Because when you get right down to it, the the hardest part of all of this and what we’ve been working on the first of these episodes is to help support you in giving you the tools to make the unconscious conscious all of it is about making the unconscious conscious, so that you’re not letting fate control your destiny, you know that you’re in charge of where it is that you’re going. And so your playbook the post pandemic abundance playbook is a great tool to help you live it and make it specific to your needs as an individual so that you can start to in light of the WMN compass, you can then go through back through the playbook whether you’ve already downloaded it or you’re yet to download it if you go to a PostPandemicAbundance.com. You can download the playbook and if you’ve already downloaded it, you can download it again and use it in light of this session this episode so that you can see and use it in conjunction with the information that you now have on the WMN compass to be able to make progress that way.
Sounds good. Until next time!
