Why is Selling Yourself Out Permissible or Acceptable?

Do you find this to be true too?

For some reason it’s easier to break a promise I’ve made to myself than it is to break one made to someone else.

Strangely, even if I don’t know someone all that well, if I give my word to them, I feel more obligated to keep it than when I’ve made a commitment but the only person who knows about it is me.

Don’t we deserve the same respect and benefit of the doubt we afford others?

It’s worth reflecting on.
